1 Year Ago: Where Did We Leave Off in Education in the Village?

1 year ago, at the beginning of June, in the villages of Adıyaman and Hatay “Where did we leave off in education in the village?” We were together with children and parents for our project.

We worked with KODA Volunteers all summer long to provide psychosocial support and academic compensation for children living in villages after the February 6 earthquakes. By conducting social emotional learning activities with children at school during the day, we aimed to help children understand themselves and their environment better and increase their emotional awareness.

In the evenings, we would gather with the parents in the villages, arrange our chairs in a circle, face each other and talk about the development of children.

After completing all these activities, we would circle with KODA Volunteers and evaluate how the day went.

“I have 'my heart' in the work we do.”

We felt like KODA Volunteers saying this in an evening circle. As long as we do the work our heart desires “I'll never forget seeing the kids relax.” We were thinking and feeling like another KODA Volunteer.

When we reached the end of August, we started organizing our closing meetings. On that day, when we exhibited and celebrated everything we produced together for three months, everyone in the village came to the schools and the children exhibited the activities they wanted. That day, it was as if we were as a mother who attended the parent circles said, “The first week I joined, I felt black, now I am colorful.”

We were all colorful together. As unforgettable memories, places and people enter our lives, “It felt good to bond so much in such a short time. “I want to take everyone with me.” We were like KODA Volunteers saying.

At the end of the day, we were all together. We were wandering through our memories.

Where did we leave off in education in the village? our project in Adıyaman Rönesans Holding; in Hatay Dalyan Foundation We made it happen with your support. We would like to thank all the supporters, KODA Volunteers and everyone who was with us in the field.

Where did we leave off in education in the village? Even though we have completed our project, we continue to work in the disaster area and write new stories.

See you,

KODA Community
