Why?

Following the February 6th Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, education in the affected villages and rural areas was severely disrupted.

During this process, teachers, especially those in the early years of their careers, faced not only the challenge of adapting to a new place and profession, but also the uncertainty, loneliness, and emotional burden created by the disaster.

Children and families also had to continue their education while trying to cope with the effects of the disaster.

With the Post-Disaster Rural Education Support Program, we aim to empower the teachers and families surrounding children in disaster areas so that they can access quality education under all circumstances.

For whom?

The program is for those working in villages and rural neighborhoods of provinces affected by the disaster. teachers (mentors) in the early years of their profession with those who accompany them experienced teachers (mentors) We designed it for that.

The development of mentors and the quality of the mentoring process, on the other hand... mentor advisors supports.

How?

We run the program through three main components that support each other:

Mentoring: We connect teachers in their early years of the profession with teachers who have experience teaching in rural areas. Through one-on-one and group mentoring, we empower teachers in areas such as adaptability, classroom management, student and parent communication, professional development, and emotional resilience.

Social Emotional Learning: We improve teachers' knowledge and practical skills in the area of ​​social-emotional learning; and we enable them to apply what they have learned with the children in their own classrooms.

Parental Involvement: We reach families through teachers; we ensure that family communication, sharing of routines and responsibilities at home, and parental involvement in their children's education processes are strengthened.

In 2024-2025

Directly within the scope of the program:

56 mentee teachers,
29 mentor teachers,
6 mentor advisors and
With 8 social-emotional learning trainers We worked.
