The Village Schools Change Network (KODA) Association, in a statement released as part of the May 19th Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day, drew attention to the importance of preparing prospective teachers for their teaching careers in villages while they are still in university. The association invited the public to show solidarity in order to continue efforts to strengthen children's access to quality education in villages.

KODA emphasizes that supporting teachers, teacher candidates, and parents is crucial for strengthening education in villages. The association stated that through its work in various villages across Türkiye, it aims to support children's learning processes, empower teachers professionally and socially, and better prepare teacher candidates for their teaching careers in rural areas.

Preparing Young Teacher Candidates for Teaching in the Village
The "First Step to the Village" Program, run by KODA, aims to familiarize prospective teachers with village schools and provide them with knowledge and experience in village education before graduation. Within the program, university students prepare for teaching experience in villages through theoretical courses and field applications conducted in collaboration with academics and village teachers.

KODA points out that there are limited practice-oriented studies in education faculties regarding teaching in villages and education in combined classes. Therefore, it is stated that teachers assigned to villages in the first years of their profession may face various difficulties both in the classroom and in the process of adapting to village life.

"Sustainable Solidarity is of Great Importance"
KODA stated that, as part of the program it has been running since 2017, it supports prospective teachers in starting their careers in village schools with better preparation and enthusiasm. The statement included the following: "Sustainable solidarity is of great importance for empowering young people in the field of education and ensuring children have better access to education."
The association also stated that its work is sustained through the contributions of regular donors, and that the May 19th Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day once again reminds us of the importance of investing in the potential of young people. KODA invited everyone who wants to strengthen the educational journey of children living in villages and support prospective teachers to join in solidarity.
